Chambéry is hemmed in by the Bauges and Chartreuse massifs. Approach and departure procedures are specific to the airport, which can close when the cloud base is low. In January and February a plan B must always exist — usually Lyon or Geneva.
From December to March, Saturday is changeover day for resort rentals. Slots, parking and ground staff are all under strain. A midweek departure is often appreciably cheaper, for the same aircraft.
